Goblin-Mode Outbounds - Founder Tactics: Part 1
For ideas with no clear endpoint, I go on a journey down the stream of thought. Writing does not need to be something that creates value or has purpose so much like backpacking, you can just wander without the need to get somewhere by sometime. These posts appreciate the journeys with unclear directions. I intentionally leave space to map out my path in case I ever want to retrace my steps to try something different.
Early Stage Founders
Y'all gotta do what you gotta do. Find customers in any way possible. Preferably the ways that won't scale. You don't have that luxury.
Goblin Tactics
Odd and interesting ways that I've reached out to customers.
- Find all your successful founder friends (early stage) and do a LI search against their 1st 2nd connections. Organize into categories and ask for introductions.
- Repeat, but just cold DM the people. It’s really hard to know who people know and who they are connected to.
- Go to your competitors sales/marketing calls and find out who's interested in their software -- DM them. Doubles as a good way to learn about your competitors.
- Follow people who talk about your space/niche and look at who comments. Those that comment are a. Active on LI b. Interested in the same space
